CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given in loving memory of Mildred Sapovits by Rick and Cindy Sapovits.
OUR SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS are with the family and friends of Mae Jean Rosser, a long-time CPC member who passed away at the age of 94 on July 31. A service celebrating her life and resurrection is being planned.
THE CPC DEACONS EXTEND A WARM WELCOME today and invite you to stop by the Deacons’ Table in Fellowship Hall.
NEWSLETTER DEADLINE. Ministry and committee leaders, please begin to think about preparing articles for our late-August/September “Hands & Feet” newsletter. Article deadline is August 14. Please send all information to Editor Sue Blevins.
KIDS CENTRAL PRESCHOOL’S open registration for the 2017-2018 school year is on-going. Spots are limited. Please call Robin in the KCP office at 610-269-0297 or email [email protected] to schedule a tour.
THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE requests prayers and suggestions as we work to fill leadership positions. If you know a member who is called (or should be) to serve as an Elder, Deacon, or Trustee, please let us know! You may submit names and committee recommendations in the Officer Nomination Box at the Welcome Center. Thank you in advance for your support and your prayers!
OUR DEACONS LIAISON COMMITTTEE continues to work with families in need this summer. Their outreach includes help with utility bills, rental assistance and sometimes support toward food. Assistance is available for church members as well as those in our community, and all information is kept confidential. Sadly, the need has been so great during June and July that at this time this ministry is extremely low on funds. The loose offering this morning will be given to support their work, or you can use the green envelopes in the pews. Thank you for your generosity.
2018 GENERAL ASSEMBLY. Donegal Presbytery is seeking Teaching Elders, Ruling Elders and a young adult (ages 18-23) to be part of our delegation to next summer’s General Assembly (GA). Our Presbytery’s GA Commissioners and Young Adult Advisory Delegate (YAAD) will speak and make decisions at General Assembly, the national governing body of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The meeting will be held in St. Louis, Missouri on June 16-23, 2018. Please contact the church office if you are interested.
LOOKING FOR A “WIRED WORD” FACILITATOR. We are thankful for the leadership of Lowell McKinney, who is now “changing hats” and will be working with our Godly Play students this fall. “Wired Word” is an adult education class held during Grand Central Station. Materials are provided for the class to read, and the facilitator guides the discussion. We would also welcome co-facilitators. Please contact Pastor Emily if you might be interested in taking on this role.
COLLECTION BOXES for our November 5 “Extending the Table” meal-packing event for Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) are available all summer long in Fellowship Hall. Drop in 29 cents to offset the cost of a single meal, or $2.90 toward 10 meals. By November we hope to have most of the cost of this wonderful ministry covered!
OUR NEXT RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE will be held here at CPC on Friday, August 18, from 2 to 7 pm. There are two donor thank you gifts: a Dunkin Donut Coupon for a free iced coffee and donut, which you will receive at the blood drive and a $5.00 Target gift card, which will be emailed approximately 2 weeks following the blood drive. Please call the church office, 610-269-1576, or 1-800-REDCROSS to schedule an appointment. Or schedule on-line at redcross.org. Thank you for your support!
ORDER YOUR PHILLIES TICKETS this morning. Stop by the table in Fellowship Hall to join in on our CPC trip. On Sunday, August 27, we are heading to beautiful Citizens Bank Park to the 1:35 pm. Phillies game versus the World Series champion Chicago Cubs. The bus will be leaving our parking lot at 11:30 a.m. after worship. Avoid the stress of driving and paying for parking in favor of round-trip convenience. Bus and game combo is only $30; if you get a game ticket only (group rate) it is $16. You can also pay on-line by going to our homepage, cpcdowningtown.org and clicking on the link. Hope you will join us for this fun fellowship event!
