Announcements for the week of April 7, 2019

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given by Rick and Cindy Sapovits to the glory of God and in loving memory of Mildred Sapovits.

THIS MORNING’S LOOSE OFFERING assists our Deacons with their outreach to the community.  The Deacon Liaison Committee continues to work with families in need, helping with utility bills, heating oil, rental assistance and support toward food.  Thank you for your generosity.

JOIN US THIS MORNING in Fellowship Hall immediately after worship for Extending the Table, where we celebrate Earth Day and what it means to be good stewards of God’s glorious creation.  There will be stations on composting, recycling, water, native plants, monarch butterflies, and information on Camp Kirkwood.  Plus lots of good food and fellowship of course!

HIS MISSION.  Please stop by the display board in the North Narthex this morning to pick up a slip for this month’s His Mission dinner.  Because the third Sunday falls on Easter, we will be collecting and delivering the food on Palm Sunday, April 14.  We will be providing ham, “Party Potatoes,” coleslaw, green beans, cherry sauce, pineapple bread, and lemon bars.  Thank you very much for your support!

A LENTEN SERVICE AND LUNCHEON will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 10 at Downingtown Methodist Church, 751 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.

CENTRALCONNECTION, our after-school program for students at East Ward Elementary school, will take place this Wednesday, April 10, from 1:30 to 5:00 pm.  Volunteers to serve as shepherds or to instruct small groups in a game, craft, or other activity are always welcome.  Please contact Margaret VanGilder, if you can help for all or part of the afternoon. Thanks.

CPC MEN’S MINISTRY. Join us on Thursday, April 11 at 1:30pm in the Prayer Room as we wrap up the first chapter of Adam Hamilton’s book entitled, “Half Truths.” We will discuss Deism and the Hands-Off God and end with the God who is sovereign and gives us freedom and who works through people. All men are welcome to participate in this discussion and collectively provide and gain new insights into what Scripture has to say about these topics. Hope to see you. Please RSVP to Gerry Mello as to whether or not you plan on attending.

A GIFT TO ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING enables the PC(USA) to share God’s love with our neighbors-in-need around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, providing food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed.  This special offering will be collected on Easter Sunday morning, April 21.  Extra “Fish Banks” are available in the church office, or look for the OGHS offering envelope in the pews or in your personal offering envelope box.

DINNER FOR WONDER! this week will be baked chicken, salad, rolls and dessert.  Dinner and fellowship is from 6:15-7pm, between Block A and Block B.  If you plan to participate in the provided meal, please RSVP on the church website, sign up at the Welcome Center or call the office!

A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL AND MEMORIAL SERVICE will be hosted by CPC on Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 pm. to remember victims of homicide and law enforcement officers who have fallen in the line of duty.

OUR DEACONS’ SPRING LUNCHEON is coming up on Thursday, April 18.  If you are a senior or a veteran, please be our guest.  Come enjoy warm fellowship, a delicious meal, and some delightful entertainment.  We always welcome additional help with the luncheon – as greeters, as servers, or for clean-up.  Sign-ups to attend or help are at the Welcome Center.

CAFÉ CENTRAL CAPTAINS. We are looking for individuals or CPC groups to serve as Café Central Captains.  Captains will be responsible for finding volunteers, food procurement, setup and cleanup of Café Central on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of a chosen month.  A small budget is available to help offset the cost of food.  Months available are:  April, May, July, August and December.  See Brad Aucker for more details.

DONEGAL PRESBYTERY’S WOMEN’S SPRING RETREAT is being held May 3-5 at St. Mary of Providence Retreat Center, hosted by First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville.  Registration forms are available at the Welcome Center.  Scholarships are available.  Questions?  See Joanne Bilyew.
