Announcements for the week of August 25, 2019

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNNG are given by the Hauer and Lash families to the glory of God and in loving memory of Betty and Hugh Stitt, Michael Goyda and Doris Blouch.

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS.  Today we have a special “blessing time” for our children and teachers as they return to school – or start for the first time! We send them on their way knowing we have entrusted them to God for a great year of learning and friendship.

GODLY PLAY resumes this morning.  This is a worship time designed especially for children ages four through second grade after the first part of our worship together.  Please sign your children in on the clipboard in the north narthex and pick up a nametag prior to the beginning of worship.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  We are looking for people with current CPR/AED certification to be paired with members of Aidan’s Heart Foundation to help with next week’s Extending the Table (see insert).  If you meet this criteria and are interested, please contact Christa Glogowski or Brad Aucker. (please see insert)

A WONDER! KICK-OFF PICNIC will be held on Wednesday, September 4, at 6pm.  Come out for an evening of fellowship and learn more about the upcoming offerings for Wonder! and Grand Central Stations.  There will also be an opportunity for you to meet Rev. Jenny Warren, our new Transitional Pastoral Associate.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP by signing up at the Welcome Center or calling the office.

RESCHEDULED YOUTH POOL PARTY —Students in grades 6-12 are invited to attend a pool party at 24 Spring Meadow Drive, Sunday September 8, from 2-4pn. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate, and we’ll have a chance to enjoy some end of summer sun!

LEAD Elementary-aged Kids Class at Wonder!  Volunteers are needed to serve on Wednesdays from 7-8:15PM with kids from K-5th Grade, beginning September 11. Lessons and activities provided. Looking for people to serve at least 2 weeks per month on a rotation, at least through mid-December, with option to continue again when Wonder! resumes in February. Talk to Amy Lisk if you would like more information.

CPC MEMBER AND CANDIDATE FOR ORDINATION Jeremy Graeff has released a new single.

THE CHURCH OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED on Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day. Regular office hours will resume on September 3:  Mon.-Thurs., 8:30am-4:30pm and Friday, 8:30am-2pm.

CALLING ALL 3rd-5th GRADERS!  Our “Second Fridays” Youth Group would love to have you! We meet the 2nd Friday of every month from September-May.  Our first meeting will be Friday September 13, from 6:30-8pm at the church.  Last year, our activities included a hayride, rock climbing, swimming, and fun arts and crafts.  Friends are welcome as well, as long as a permission slip is filled out which can be found on the church’s website. If you are able to join or have any questions, please email or call Adam Anders: [email protected] or (484) 947-8448.  Hope to see you there!

A NEW MEMBERS CLASS will be held on Sunday, September 15, at 10:45am for anyone interested in joining Central Presbyterian Church, or for those who have questions about membership or wish to know more about the work and worship of the church.  Please RSVP to the church office, 610-269-1576 or to Nancy Hilton at [email protected] no later than September 9. Reading materials will be sent to you as soon as you RSVP.  Please let us know if you will need childcare.  New members will be received in worship September 22.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AN ACOLYTE?  Students entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grades are invited to join our Acolyte Team.  This is a very special way to serve and contribute by bringing the “light” into worship on Sunday morning and then carrying it out after worship, symbolizing the light of Christ going out into the world.  If interested, contact Jane Beam at [email protected] or by phone at 610-273-2998. Training and instruction will be provided in early fall for interested students.

VOLUNTEER TO BE A LITURGY LEADER.  Take a new step into worship by volunteering to help deliver the liturgy to the church. Examples include delivering the scripture before the sermon, reading a prayer, or helping deliver announcements every so often.  Contact Jessica Clark-Weikel with any questions or to volunteer. Email [email protected]
