TODAY IN WORSHIP we celebrate Christmas in story and song. In the Presbyterian tradition we follow a “reformed” order of worship, with four key parts: gather, listen, respond, send. This rhythm helps us remember the church is a community that learns from and is fed by God’s word. Once we hear it, we cannot help but be changed by it and share that gift with others. Today we have taken this common liturgical movement and woven it into the four themes of advent: hope, peace, joy, and love. As we gather in hope, listen for peace, respond with joy, and are sent out to love, we pray you will encounter the Advent and Christmas story in a new way. Merry Christmas!
CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING. A cherished Presbyterian tradition since the 1930s, the Christmas Joy Offering is one of the four special offerings designated by the PC(USA). It provides financial assistance to current and former church workers and their families as well as providing opportunities for deserving students to attend Presbyterian-related colleges and schools. You can find specially marked offering envelopes in the pews. Undesignated gifts support the work of CPC.
PLEASE STOP BY THE ARCHIVAL CABINET in the West Narthex to see December’s Christmas Display shared by Pastor Emily, Peggy Mahan and Arlene Stevenson.
YOUR 2019 GIVING ENVELOPES are available for you to pick up this morning. They are arranged alphabetically on the table outside of Fellowship Hall. Thank you so much for your faithfulness to CPC.
A NEW MEMBERS CLASS is being held on Sunday, January 27 at 10:45 am. If you would like to join CPC or simply have questions about membership at Central, we encourage you to attend the class. Please RSVP to the church office at 610-269-1576 or email Nancy Hilton at [email protected]
