CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given to the glory of God and in honor of Evan James Veit, by the Veit family.
WE CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM this morning, with Evan James Veit, son of James and Shannon Veit, and brother of Jillian Veit, and with Norman “Max” Reeder.
RECEIVED THIS MORNING AS NEW MEMBERS of our church family are Corinne and Nathan Clark, Laura and Max Reeder, and Robert Walter. Please greet them warmly after the service as we welcome them into the worship and work of the church.
CALLING VBS VOLUNTEERS! We’ve chosen “Who is my Neighbor? Learning to Love like Jesus” for July 22-26, 2019, and we have a lot to get ready. If you would like to be involved in planning VBS–decorations, stations, crafts, mission, drama and Bible story, you are invited to attend a meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 7:00-8pm to get started. Child care is available from our CPC nursery staff. Please RSVP to Amy Lisk, so we know who to expect in the meeting and in childcare.
BLANKET THE WORLD WITH LOVE. This morning, the CPC Presbyterian Women will be accepting donations for blankets. Sponsored by Church World Service, these blankets are given to families fleeing their homes and recovering from disasters, helping to provide them with warmth and comfort. Look for us in the Narthex after the service, where you will receive a valentine to honor a loved one for your donation. Thank you for your support.
CENTRALCONNECTION. CPC offers a wonderful program for students in the Downingtown School District on early dismissal days. Contact Margaret VanGilder if you would be willing to share something you love to do (crafts, games, music, etc.) with some children, or to serve as an extra pair of helping hands for group supervision. Next session is Thursday, February 14, 1:30-5:00 p.m. You can volunteer from 2:00-3:00 pm or 4:00-5:00 pm, or both. Thanks!
KCP BOARD MEMBER NEEDED. Kids Central Preschool is seeking a parent who wishes to be active in his/her community by serving as a 3-year board member. The focus of the preschool is reaching and teaching about Jesus. If interested, interviews will be in late February. Contact Rae Ann Lukavsky for more information.
CAFÉ CENTRAL is in need of hosts for the months of February and March. Please sign up at the Welcome Center.
STEWARDSHIP. Commitment cards are available at the Welcome Center for those who are still prayerfully considering what they might wish to give to the church in 2019. Envelopes are provided for confidentiality, and can be returned to an usher or Welcome Center volunteer. Thank you for your faithful support.
HIS MISSION. Please stop by the trifold board in the North narthex and pick up a slip for food items requested for our February meal at His Mission, a shelter in Kennett Square for those who are temporarily homeless and those seeking employment. This month we will provide Italian sausage sandwiches with peppers and onions, cole slaw, applesauce and brownies. There is also a special need for several new bed pillows. They always need towels, washcloths, soap, dish detergent, bleach and hats and gloves as well. Please bring your donations next Sunday, February 17. Thank you for your generosity.
WONDER! Sign up for this Wednesday’s Wonder dinner, which will be lasagna, online at www.cpcdowningtown.org/wonder-dinner-sign-up or on the clipboard at the Welcome Center. There is a suggested $5 per person donation; maximum for a family is $20. You can also feel free to bring along your own dinner and share in the fellowship. Following dinner, you can choose a workshop: The Wired Word or Parents’ Group at 6:10 pm, or “Jesus: Modeling an Evolving Faith” at 7:15 pm. Newcomers welcome!
THE 2019 CHANCEL FLOWER SIGN-UP can be found in Fellowship Hall, right inside the door. If you would like to donate the chancel flowers “in honor of” or “in memory of” a loved one, please make your check payable to the CPC Working Guild. Cost is $40. Flowers can be taken home immediately after the service, or you can designate that the Deacons deliver one or both to a shut-in.
