CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Grace Bula by Sue Sweetland.

WE EXTEND OUR SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS to CPC members Carol and Andrew McGowan on the sudden passing of husband and father Jim McGowan on January 14, 2019. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26 at 11am at Downingtown West High School auditorium.

THE CHURCH OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED tomorrow, Monday, January 21, in observance of the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.

REMINDER: Good Works will be held this month on Saturday, January 26.  Please don’t forget to RSVP to Jim Lucas or Koren Motel for lunch.  Thanks so much for supporting this Mission especially during this cold time of the month.  Dress warm folks!!

JOIN US FOR THE YOUTH TALENT SHOW/COFFEE HOUSE FUNDRAISER  Friday, January 25 at 7 pm in Fellowship Hall.

A NEW MEMBERS CLASS will be held next Sunday, January 27 at 10:45 am for anyone interested in joining Central Presbyterian Church, or for those who have questions about membership.  Please RSVP to the church office, 610-269-1576 or to Nancy Hilton at [email protected]

KIDS CENTRAL PRESCHOOL is seeking a person focused in serving the Lord by being a 3-year board member.  If you are interested in helping the children of our future, please contact Rae Ann Lukavsky to learn more about being a board member.  Interviews will be in approximately six weeks at CPC.

SHARE THE LOVE.  The CPC Mission Ministry asks all of us to join together to “Share the Love” during the month of February in a very tangible way—by bringing food items for The Lord’s Pantry and the Honey Brook Food Pantry.  We will have weekly themes and grocery lists inserted in each Sunday bulletin, beginning next Sunday.

PER CAPITA GIVING.  Shared Proportional Giving, also known as Per Capita, is an amount charged to PC(USA) churches based on their membership numbers.  It supports the broader mission of our denomination.  The 2019 amount remains the same as last year’s, $34.78 per member.  Please consider making this contribution to help with CPC’s required amount.  Be sure to write per capita on the memo line of your check.  Thank you.

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS.  There are still a few healthy, beautiful poinsettias at the Welcome Center and in the West Narthex.  If you know of someone who is struggling physically, emotionally or spiritually and might need a bright spot of color in their lives, please take a poinsettia to them.

POSITION AVAILABLE.  After more than five years of service to CPC, Financial Administrator Betsy Williams is retiring.  We are grateful for her time with us.  If you know of a non-member who might be interested in this part-time position maintaining the church financial records and preparing budgets and financial reports, please ask them to send their resume to [email protected]

COLORING BOOKS.  CPC on a Mission is collecting new coloring books to send to children in the hospital. They can be brought in anytime through January 27.  The collection box is at the Welcome Center.

CAFÉ CENTRAL is in need of hosts for the months of February and March.  Please sign up at the Welcome Center.

CALLING VBS VOLUNTEERS! We’ve chosen “Who is my Neighbor? Learning to Love like Jesus” for July 22-26, 2019, and we have a lot to get ready. If you would like to be involved in planning VBS–decorations, stations, crafts, mission, drama and Bible story, you are invited to attend a meeting on January 30, 7:00-8pm to get started. Child care is available from our CPC nursery staff. Please RSVP to Amy Lisk, so we know who to expect in the meeting and in childcare.

FLOWER MINISTRY.  Please sign up on the 2019 Flower Chart posted just inside Fellowship Hall.  You can donate chancel flowers “in honor of” or “in memory of” a loved one.  The cost is $40 ($20 per vase.)  Flowers can be taken home immediately following the service, or you can designate that they be delivered to a shut-in.  Checks should be made payable to the CPC Working Guild.

KIDS CENTRAL PRESCHOOL’S open registration is going on now! If you are interested in Kids Central for the 2019-2020 school year, please call Robin in the KCP Office at 610-269-0297 for more information and to schedule a tour. Also, we still have openings in the 3’s classes for the remainder of the current school year. If you know of a child who would benefit from a positive Christian Preschool experience, check out our web-site at, or e-mail [email protected].

INCLEMENT WEATHER.  The CPC office normally follows the Downingtown Area School District when there are two-hour delays or closures because of bad weather.  You can call the church office to hear a recorded message, or check our website at to find out if we are closed.

GETTING CONNECTED.  If you would like to be added to the Prayer Chain or to the Volunteers Group, please contact Nancy Hilton in the church office.  We will continue to do our best to share the needs within the Central congregation with each of you.
