Announcements for the week of June 3, 2018

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given in loving memory of Richard and Anna Roddy by Cindy and Rick Sapovits and Debbie and Sandy Maxwell.

TODAY IS GRADUATE RECOGNITION SUNDAY.  During worship we celebrate all of our graduates from high school, college or higher-level degree programs. Congratulations and best wishes to all of our graduates!

THE IDA KLINE YOUTH MUSIC AWARD is presented today for the 43rd year in a row. It is given to a youth member of our church who has contributed greatly to the worship life of our congregation through the generous offering of their musical talents—instrumental, vocal or both. Through such expressions we experience the joy of praising God through our congregational voices of all ages.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST THIS MORNING!  Enjoy a scrumptious pancake breakfast today either before or after worship (8:30 am or 10:30 am).  Your donation supports the work of our mission committee.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  One volunteer is needed weekly to serve with Ann Lash in the infant room. Please sign up on the calendar outside the nursery to support this important ministry.

SUMMER CHILDREN’S WORSHIP begins today for kids age 4 through entering 2nd grade in Rooms 107-109. Sign up to teach on the board next to the Welcome Center. Lessons designed around simple art project or science demos are available from Amy Lisk. Grab a partner, and volunteer!

TODAY’S CANOE TRIP down the Brandywine is postponed due to the weather and water conditions. We are working to reschedule for late June or early July.

PARKING LOT RENOVATION “SALE”.  The Capital Campaign team will be offering the opportunity to sponsor, for $10 per square yard, any size area of the parking lot you choose. See the campaign team at our table outside Fellowship Hall.  Thank you for your continued faithfulness and support.

“COME AS YOU ARE CHOIR” – What is that?  During the summer, we invite people who wonder about singing in the choir to give it a try!  Each week throughout the summer, we gather in the choir room at 9 a.m. to ready ourselves to sing a simple selection to resonate with the scripture and message in the worship service.  If you have thought, “I’d like to try singing in the choir,” then come as you are—all voices and ages welcome!  We start next Sunday, June 10.  Please join us!

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS.  Beginning tomorrow through the end of August, the church office will be open during the summer from 9 a.m. to 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 9:00 am to noon on Fridays.

VISIONCORPS, a sight loss support group that meets here at CPC on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 12:30 to 2:30 pm, is looking for volunteers to transport visually impaired persons to and from the meetings.  These meetings have been extremely valuable for those suffering from major vision loss and blindness. Please contact Claire Hinkle at 610-741-6378.

HEARTS IN HANDS is looking for high school or adult volunteers to help with their summer camp.  See the notice on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall for more information.

VBS IS IN GREAT NEED of one more adult volunteer. Please consider making yourself available for this exciting week with kids from all over Downingtown. A shepherd is needed to guide a group of about 15 kids from station to station, facilitating but not teaching. Talk to Carolyn Smith or Amy Lisk if you have questions.

REMINDER TO VBS VOLUNTEERS: We will meet next Sunday, 6/10, at 11:00 am for an orientation meeting and to distribute materials.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME!  We have lots of CPC folks who love baseball in general, and the Phillies in particular.  Last year, our CPC trip to the Phillies game was a great success, so we are getting a group together for another fun time of fellowship at the Sunday, July 22, 1:35 pm home game, Phillies vs. San Diego Padres.  Watch for the sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center and SAVE THE DATE!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  In order to keep Café Central going for the summer, we need volunteers to sign up.  Please stop by the bulletin board next to the Welcome Center.  Thank you!

THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE requests prayers and suggestions as we work to fill leadership positions.  If you know a member who is called (or should be) to serve as an Elder, Deacon, or Trustee, please let us know!  You may submit names and committee recommendations in the Officer Nomination Box at the Welcome Center.  Thank you in advance for your support and your prayers!

SCHOOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER!  Are you ready for next year?  Kids Central Preschool has limited spots available.  Call 610-269-0297 to schedule a tour, or email Director Robin Chiavetta at [email protected]
