Announcements for the week of March 17, 2019

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Rev. Edward O. Poole by Leah Greenwood.

IT’S TIME TO ORDER EASTER FLOWERS.  This morning is the last day to order Easter flowers.  Use the order form in your church bulletin, then stop by the Welcome Center to drop off your order and payment. Flowers can be given in memory of or in honor of a loved one, and cost $9 for a 6-inch pot.

DINNER FOR WONDER! this week will be a taco bar and salad. A gluten-free alternative will be available.  Dinner and fellowship will now be from 6:15-7pm, between Block A and Block B.  If you plan to participate in the provided meal, please RSVP on the church website, sign up at the Welcome Center or call the office!

A NOONTIME LENTEN SERVICE followed by lunch will be held Wednesday, March 20 at St. James Episcopal Church, 409 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.

JOIN US FOR WONDER! THIS WEDNESDAY.  Come out for Parents’ Group or the Wired Word during Block A from 5:30-6:15pm.  Dinner and fellowship follow from 6:15-7pm.  Then check out Block B from 7-8:15pm – you can join Kelly Black for the discussion group, “Intentionally Pursuing God,” where we’ll talk about four different ways to pursue God, and why being intentional about seeking God on a daily basis is so vital to our personal faith.  Or, you are invited to visit the Lenten prayer stations.  Each week, five different individual, meditative prayer exercises will be set up in rooms 107-109.  Quiet music will play while those who participate move through the stations at their own pace.  A host will be there to welcome you and explain how it works.  Both of these Block B offerings will continue through April 10th.

HIGH DEF MOVIE NIGHT: Friday, March 22, 6:30-9:30pm in the youth room. Titles for screening being considered are Noah (2014 starring Russell Crowe) or Tim Burton’s Big Fish (2003). Let Amy Lisk know if you’ll be there and which movie sounds better.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Rev. Dr. Peter Ayukachale and Magdalene Ayukachale, who have passed their citizenship exam and will be sworn in as United States citizens on Friday, March 22 at the Chester County Courthouse.  Please be sure to come to Café Central on Sunday, March 24 following worship as we honor the Ayukachales’ achievement and celebrate with them.

INVITATION TO “FEEL THE SPIRIT!”  Festival Choir forms again to begin rehearsal of a beautiful and moving work of seven spirituals, arranged by John Rutter, “Feel the Spirit,” to be presented in worship on June 2. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 8:30-9:00 p.m. and Sundays from Noon-12:45 p.m. There are enough rehearsals for interested singers (of all ages!) to be able prepare between March 16 and June 2. You can attend when you can to learn the music and then enjoy singing this special work with a  Chamber Orchestra.

FLEECE FABRIC request for CentralConnection. At our April 10 CentralConnection day, we will offer an activity for the children to make stuffed fleece pillows to take home. If you have any fleece remnants you could donate, please bring these labeled “CentralConnection” to the church office by April 7. Thank you so much for helping to support this wonderful outreach to our local community!

GOOD WORKS REMINDER.  Our Good Works Work Day is this Saturday, March 23 at 9am.  Please RSVP to Jim Lucas for our lunch count. Thank you for your support of this ministry.

CHILDCARE HELP IS NEEDED to provide care in our nurseries during Holy Week and Easter Services. If you are willing to help, please talk to Amy Lisk to choose a slot and volunteer!

YOUR RESPONSE IS NEEDED. Our church has entered into a time of discernment during which we are gathering information to guide our vision for our future.  The Church Assessment Tool (CAT) will provide a clearer picture of who we are as a church and what directions might be important for our future.  Your response is very important to us. Fill out the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CentralPresDowningtown , or printed copies are available this morning in Room 120. All answers are strictly anonymous and on-line input is sent directly to the consulting group. Please respond by March 24.

CAFÉ CENTRAL CAPTAINS. The Faith Formation and Fellowship Ministry is looking for individuals or CPC groups to serve as Café Central Captains, responsible for Café Central for a specific month of the year, much like the Usher Captain program currently operates.  Captains will be responsible for finding volunteers for  food procurement, setup and cleanup of Café Central on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of a chosen month.  Please consider serving so that we can continue to offer this important time of fellowship here at CPC. Months still needed are:  April, May, July, August and December.  See Brad Aucker for more details or to claim your month!
