Announcements for the week of May 6, 2018

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given in loving memory of Vinny Connor by Eva Connor.

PLEASE JOIN US this morning following Worship when the CPC Handbell Choirs and Woodwind Ensemble host “Extending the Table.”  Come enjoy a light breakfast and listen to a variety of musical and movie music performed by our very own Central musicians!

IN HONOR OF OUR MOTHERS. Stop by the PW tables in the narthex this morning and next Sunday.  PW will provide Mother’s Day cards in exchange for donations to our Presbyterian Women’s Mother’s Day Project for 2018, Healthy Women, Healthy Families, which provides for health needs of women and children in several African countries.

PENTECOST SPECIAL OFFERING.  Each year on Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit as a bringer of new life with an offering that nurtures the faith of children, youth and young adults.  This offering will be taken on Sunday, May 20.  40% stays with our congregation to develop and support programs for young people in our church and our community.  Special envelopes are available in the pews.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  One volunteer is needed weekly to serve with Ann Lash in the infant room. Please sign up on the calendar outside the nursery to support this important ministry.

COMMITTED TO OUR FUTURE – HOME STRETCH – PARKING LOT RENOVATION “SALE”.  Similar to our earlier efforts to defray the costs of equipment and other items for the kitchen and bathrooms, the Capital Campaign team will be offering the opportunity to sponsor, for $10 per square yard, any size area of the parking lot you choose.  So beginning next Sunday, May 13,  bring your checkbook or grab some spare cash, and see the campaign team at our table outside Fellowship Hall for more details and disclaimers (e.g., your donation does not entitle you to a reserved parking space!).  Thank you for your continued faithfulness and support.

LOST AND FOUND.  Please stop by the table and look through the lost-and-found box in the West Narthex this morning to claim any item that might be yours.  There are also many coats on the coat rack that have been unclaimed for months.  All unclaimed items will be donated to charity after May 20.

THE CPC MEN’S MINISTRY is now meeting on a new day and time!  The group will meet this Thursday, May 10, from 1:30-3:00 pm in the Prayer Room here at the church. The study is James 3:1-12, “Taming the Tongue.”  Feel free to invite a friend, co-worker, neighbor or relative.  RSVP to Gerry Mello, 610-755-8869 or [email protected]

VBS is full! We have 85 kids registered to spend the week of July 16-20 at VBS. We still need 2 adult volunteers for the week: 1 adult to help lead the games station and 1 adult to help shepherd a group of students from station to station. Talk to Carolyn Smith or Amy Lisk for more information!

BACCALAUREATE SUNDAY is June 3, when during worship we will recognize all of our graduates from high school, college or higher-level degree programs.  If someone in your family is graduating, please contact the church office at 610-269-1576 or email [email protected] as soon as possible.  We would like the graduate’s name, where graduating from, degree, future plans, and a picture if possible. Thank you.

ESCAPE ROOM TICKETS are on sale now for the weekend of May 18-20. Go to  cpcdowningtown.org to choose your time slot and buy your tickets. Bring some friends or family and support our summer youth trips. If you’d like to donate directly to the mission trip and conference costs, please designate your giving to “Youth Fundraiser”.

NEW CPC GROUP.  A new 20’s and 30’s social group is forming at CPC!  Whether you are married or single, student or parent—all stages of younger adult life are welcome!  We plan to meet roughly once a month just to hang out on Friday for game nights, outings, dinners and more.  Our first get-together will be a bowling night on May 25.  Join our Facebook group “20’s & 30”s Social Group at CPC Downingtown” for more details on this and future events, or talk to Alexandra Barainyak or Jess Clark to be added to a mailing list.  We can’t wait to meet you!

SUMMER CHILDREN’S WORSHIP for ages 4 through 2nd grade will have an art or science activity with a Bible story. Two teachers are needed for each Sunday in June, July and August. Lessons will be provided. Sign up next to the welcome center and choose your favorite activity or story! Thank you for volunteering.
