Announcements for the week of September 2, 2018

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Hilary C. Kennedy (“Gran”), and in remembrance of her birthday 8/25, by Dave, Laurie, Sarah and Andrew Kennedy.

“EXTENDING THE TABLE” – RALLY DAY PICNIC!  Join us immediately following worship this morning, as we extend the table right out the door!  Our Rally Day Picnic is here on the grounds of CPC.  We are celebrating the completion of the Capital Campaign and kicking off our Fall programs.  Join us for food, fun and fellowship for all!

GRAND CENTRAL STATION “FAIR”—Join us next Sunday in fellowship hall during Café Central to learn about all the intergenerational options of classes beginning this fall. Ask questions, look at materials and sign up to attend the class that looks like the best fit for you and your interests—regardless of your age! Class sessions will start on Sunday, September 16.

WE WELCOME ONE ANOTHER BACK TODAY with the story of Jesus in song, through the allegory of a dance. No matter what our Lord endured in His blessed life on earth, He never failed to show the love of God to the people. And because of that love, we are saved and charged to dance on with His lead. Here at Central we celebrate the ways in which we share our space in Downingtown with our neighbors, reaching out to those in need and welcoming everyone to be part of God’s family here. So CPC, join in the dance, and with God’s guidance, we will still go on with the work of our Savior.

WE CELEBRATE the wonderful accomplishments of two of our staff members here at Central:  Pathman Carnation and Preetha Pathmanathan have both passed their United States Citizenship Exams and we could not be more proud of them!  They both serve this congregation faithfully and with joy.  Please join us in congratulating them on this achievement.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  One volunteer is needed weekly to serve with Ann Lash in the infant room. Please sign up on the calendar outside the nursery to support this important ministry.

THE WELL – Central is joining The Well’s monthly renovation workday on Saturday, September 15, from 8:00am – 4:00pm.  All skill levels are welcome!  A sign-up sheet is waiting for YOU at the welcome center.  Please contact Kevin Zeege if you have any questions.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AN ACOLYTE?  Students entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grades are invited to join our Acolyte Team.  This is a very special way to serve and contribute by bringing the “light” into worship on Sunday morning and then carrying it out after worship, symbolizing the light of Christ going out into the world.  If interested, contact Jane Beam at [email protected] or by phone at 610-273-2998. Training and instruction will be provided in early fall for interested students.

HAVE YOU MADE A RESERVATION to do our Escape Room? Have you told your friends and neighbors? Come out and work together to solve puzzles and find the lost jewels before the mummy awakes! All funds raised will benefit our youth trips in summer 2019 to Massanetta and Triennium. Email [email protected] to book your time slot!

YOUTH GROUP FAMILIES: Please sign up to be a host for a block of hours during the Escape Room. See Amy for info to sign up. Also plan to come out Wednesday, September 5, 7-8 pm, to finish setting up and to get trained on hosting. Thanks!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.  In order to keep Café Central going, we need volunteers to sign up for September and October.  Please stop by the bulletin board next to the Welcome Center to pick a date that you might be able to help.  Thank you!

KIDS CENTRAL PRESCHOOL has limited spots available in the three-year-old class. Please call 610-269-0297 or email Director Robin Chiavetta at [email protected] if you would like more information or to schedule a tour.
