Announcements for week of June 9, 2019

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNNG are given by Sue Sweetland to the glory of God and in loving memory of Mae Jean Rosser.

PENTECOST SPECIAL OFFERING.  Each year on Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit as a bringer of new life with an offering that nurtures the faith of children, youth and young adults.  This offering will be taken this morning.  40% stays with our congregation to develop and support programs for young people in our church and our community.  Special envelopes are available in the pews, and coin banks are also available.

THANK YOU TO SPIRIT RISING, our CPC Praise Team, for providing all of our worship music this morning.

FUN WAY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE FAREWELL PICNIC for Tim and his family.  Jan Drury and Robin McMillen will be outside Fellowship Hall today after the service.  We are looking for volunteers to make either Fruit Skewers or Salad Skewers for the picnic on June 30th.  Jan and Robin will provide a kit with skewers, gloves and suggested recipes.  This is a nice way to participate in the event and your support is appreciated.  Each kit is for a dozen skewers.  Reach out to Robin McMillen if you have questions 610-836-1363.

A BIG THANK YOU to the congregation for generously supporting last Sunday’s Pancake Breakfasts, and to everyone who helped make it possible by shopping, setting up, cooking, serving, cleaning up. . . and a special thank you to Travis Lisk for running the dishwasher.  We received many nice compliments which were much appreciated!

HIS MISSION.  Please stop by the trifold board in the North Narthex this morning and take a slip for a donation to this month’s His Mission meal.  We will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, carrot and celery sticks and brownies.  Items that are also always needed are coffee, ice tea mix, 100% fruit juice, milk, whole wheat bread, bleach, paper towels, and toilet paper.  Items should be brought to church next Sunday, June 16.  Perishable items should be labeled His Mission, and placed in the kitchen refrigerator.  Thank you for your support!

COME AS YOU ARE CHOIR returns Sunday, June 16.  This call is for you!  Come to the choir room on Sundays at 9:00 am to prepare an easy-to-sing anthem for the service. If you have thought, “I’d like to try singing in the choir,” then come as you are—all voices and ages welcome!

A NEW MEMBERS CLASS scheduled for today has been postponed.  We will announce a date when it is rescheduled.

THE CPC MEN’S MINISTRY meets this Thursday, June 13, at 1:30 pm in the Prayer Room.  We will continue our discussion of Adam Hamilton’s book, “Half Truths.”  All men are invited, and feel free to bring a friend.  For more information, contact Gerry Mello.

VBS SUPPLIES NEEDED.  VBS is in need of clean milk or juice cartons.  Please help us out by starting to save yours now.  A complete list of supplies needed will be coming soon and will be posted on the hallway bulletin board.

THERE ARE STILL A FEW SPOTS LEFT to help with our Summer Children’s Worship. Each Sunday from June 2 through August 18 two volunteers teach children ages 4-8 during worship. Student helpers can also sign up. Lessons are available now, and the weekly topics are on the sign up. Find a friend, choose a Sunday and sign up to support this ministry to CPC’s kids. There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center. See Amy Lisk with questions.

MINISTRY LEADERS, please let the church office know if your ministry/committee will be meeting during June, July and August. Also, if you are not meeting during the summer, we need to know your September start-up date and preferred fall meeting schedule. Please request a building usage form.   Thanks very much!

A CHURCH SAFETY COMMITTEE has been organized under the Board of Trustees.  The committee is seeking volunteers to support the church’s response to a variety of potential emergencies that might arise during worship and at other times the church is occupied.  Volunteers will be trained to facilitate an effective response should we be faced with sudden critical situations.  Please contact Joe Clark by email at [email protected] if you are willing to support the committee in this important role.
