A HUGE THANK YOU to the congregation for adopting all the Angel Tree and Deacon Christmas Outreach names. Through your generosity we were able to provide 100 children with a wonderful Christmas. I would like to extend a special thanks to Brad Aucker, Rae Ann Lukavsky and Cindy Sapovits for helping sort and distribute the gifts and CorieSue Freeman for helping write the tags. Without your help it wouldn’t be possible. Pam Dunn, Deacon
PER CAPITA GIVING. Shared Proportional Giving (per capita) is an amount charged to PC(USA) churches based on membership numbers, to support the broader mission of the denomination. The 2018 per capita for each CPC member is $34.78. A per capita envelope is provided in your offering envelope box, or write per capita in the memo section of your check. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
OFFICE VOLUNTEER NEEDED Monday afternoons, noon to 4:30 pm. Please contact Nancy Hilton, Staff & Ministry Coordinator at [email protected] if interested.
NEW OFFICERS. We are grateful for the service of our outgoing officers, and thank them for all they have done for the work of the church. This morning we welcome into the work of the church Elders: Brad Aucker, Carole Dantonio, Leah Greenwood, Liz Muirhead and Lowell McKinney; Deacons: Adam Anders, Wendy Clark, Martha Gay, Dave Hollis, Kathie Marks, Rick Sapovits, Shannon Veit and Cathy Hankes; Trustees: Nancy Kammerer, Glen McMillen, Ruth Patterson and Pat Traini.
PLAN A CPC ESCAPE ROOM beginning this morning at 11 am. Youth, parents and interested adults are invited to design, plan and create an Escape Room at CPC that will be open to the congregation and the public as a fund raiser for our youth trips. An escape room challenges small teams of people to solve riddles and puzzles to “escape” the room before time runs out. Fun for all ages. If you’d like to be involved, join the group in room 121.
HIS MISSION. CPC collects food each month for His Mission, a shelter in Kennett Square for those who are temporarily homeless and those seeking employment. Please look for the tri-fold poster in the North Narthex this morning for food items requested. In January we will be supplying chili, cornbread, salad and pie. Bring your donations in next Sunday, January 21. Thank you for your generosity.
YOUTH SKI TRIP. Today is the last day to sign up for a day of skiing at Spring Mountain on Sunday, January 28. We will leave after worship. The sign-up sheet is in the Youth Room, or see Amy Lisk if you have questions. Costs will depend upon number of signups, but won’t exceed $70. The trip is sponsored by the youth group, but anyone is welcome to join the trip. Children younger than 6th grade require a parent/guardian to attend.
CAFÉ CENTRAL HOSTS ARE NEEDED for 2018. Please speak to Margaret Van Gilder or look for the sign-up sheet today at Café Central. Everyone enjoys this time of fellowship—thanks for volunteering!
INCLEMENT WEATHER. The CPC office normally follows the Downingtown Area School District when there are two-hour delays or closures because of bad weather. You can call the church office to hear a recorded message, or check our website at cpcdowningtown.org to find out if we are closed.
KIDS CENTRAL PRESCHOOL’S open registration begins Monday, January 8. If you are interested in Kids Central for the 2018-2019 school year, please call Robin in the KCP Office at 610-269-0297 for more information and to schedule a tour. Also, we still have openings in the 4’s classes for the remainder of the current school year. If you know of a child who would benefit from a positive Christian Preschool experience, please check out our web-site at www.kidscentraldtown.org, or e-mail [email protected] today.
Please submit articles for the February 2018 issue of our CPC newsletter “Hands & Feet” to editor Sue Blevins no later than January 20. Thank you!
