Announcements for September 17, 2017

CHANCEL FLOWERS THIS MORNING are given in loving memory of Frank E. Dickson by Jeff and Jody Flecken.

A NEW ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY begins this week.  Thursday, September 21, a 10-week class entitled “Half Truths” will meet in the Prayer Room, on Thursdays from 1:30-2:45 pm.  Come join this study of popular and often-used sayings such as “God helps those who help themselves” or “Everything happens for a reason,” as we explore what the Bible has to say about them.

MOVEMENT AND DANCE IN WORSHIP.  The Worship Committee invites those who have an interest to join with Susan March in exploring the meaningful use of movement and dance in worship.  Please contact Susan at [email protected]

THE CHANCEL FLOWER CHART hanging in the north narthex still has openings on October 1 and 15, and November 5 and 26.  If you would like to donate flowers “in honor of” or “in memory of” a loved one, please sign up on the chart.  Please make your check payable to the CPC Working Guild.  The cost is $40.  Flowers can be taken home immediately after the service, or you can designate that the Deacons deliver one or both to a shut-in. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your flowers with us in worship.

CROP WALK IS COMING SOON!  It is Sunday, October 1, at 2 pm.  (Registration begins at 1 pm.) This is an ecumenical event that raises funds and awareness to help end hunger locally and globally.  Walkers leave from the CPC parking lot and walk on the Struble Trail. Over the last 31 years, our walk has raised over $410,000, with $82,000 of that amount going to help our local food pantries.  Please see Dan Beam if you would like to participate and need a sponsor form, or if you can help at a registration table.  Thank you.

COME AND ENJOY A DELICIOUS PANCAKE BREAKFAST before and after worship on Sunday, October 1.  Proceeds will assist with the cost of packaging meals for Rise Against Hunger (formerly called Stop Hunger Now), in support of our CPC Mission Committee.  Kids of CPC, we will have chocolate chip pancakes for you!

BROAD STREET MINISTRY service opportunity.   We are exploring having a group of students (grade 8+) and adults serve at BSM on Oct. 8-9 (Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon). Cost will be about $50. Group minimum is 10, maximum is 40. We’ll participate in a worship service, serve “Breaking Bread” and have some other learning experiences together. If interested, please talk to Amy Lisk.

KIDS CENTRAL PRESCHOOL still has a few openings in the 4-year-old class, so if you know of a child who would benefit from a quality Christian preschool experience, contact Robin Chiavetta at 610-269-0297 or [email protected]
