Congregational Care
The Gospels are filled not only with accounts of Jesus teaching and preaching, but also praying with and for those he met.
Congregational care at Central focuses on the spiritual aspects of all individuals in the faith community by offering prayer, visiting individuals at home or in the hospital, providing care for those experiencing loss, and having one-on-one conversations with those wishing to explore particular concerns or questions about their beliefs.
Central’s Congregational Care Coordinator and the Deacons work in partnership to support individuals within the community, walking with each person in times of sorrow and in times of joy. Spiritual needs are unique to each person and each life circumstance. Most of the needs encountered include meals following surgery, hospital visitation, and support for grieving individuals. We also celebrate important life moments by sending care packages to college freshmen, recognizing marriages, and welcoming new babies into the community. Sometimes spiritual support looks very practical on the surface: packing boxes in preparation for a move, or providing groceries to someone who is unable to get to a store. Other times spiritual support means holding someone in prayer, sharing specific prayer concerns with the community, or sitting with someone in their grief.
